Here are a few things I’ve been up to this past year: 🍪Over the last twelve months, I baked and decorated over 1,400+ sugar cookies, 200+ chocolate chip cookies, 100+ cupcakes, and more! 🍪I officially launched my website for order requests and I have to admit, it really helps keep my head on straight! I spend about 10+ hours on a basic cookie order. YUP, 10 hours minimum. It all starts when I receive a message wanting to request an order 🥳 I’ll spend as much time as necessary to research/create designs to best match any occasion! I have to keep in mind the details being requested - colorful cookies or designs with lettering/logos tend to add a ton of time to the cookie decorating process. I usually start grocery shopping/baking a week before cookies are due - my cookies are NEVER frozen. My kitchen undergoes a major deep clean 🧼 before cookies are rolled out and baked. This step is then repeated before proceeding with making my Royal icing and mixing colors/consistencies! I’ve spent 2-3 hours mixing frosting colors and consistencies before… 😵‍💫 it’s my least favorite part of the process. Creating the perfect outline vs flooding consistency can sometimes be a very tedious process. Once I’m finally able to start decorating my cookies, I have to plan out which cookies should be decorated first in order to make the best use of my time. ⏰ Cookies that require a solid base of icing before details are built onto it should be frosted first so that it can start drying while you work on other designs. Royal icing takes about 8 hours to dry, but it’s best to let your cookies dry overnight to be safe. I have gone to write on a beautifully decorated cookie with an edible marker and the tip of the marker will just crush through the top hard layer if not quite dry enough 🥲 the more dry time, the better! I always bake a few extra of each cookie design in case of any mistakes. Lastly, packaging! Before sealing each cookie in a cellophane pouch, I do a mini inspection to make sure the cookie meets my standard and have a mini photo shoot 📸 (if time allows). My hubs will usually glove up and help me with this step. 🥹 Like I mentioned before, I bake/decorate extras of each cookie design, so only the best cookies get packed in your treat box. If I’m happy with all of the cookies, usually you get to leave with a few extra cookies in your order as a treat. 😋😉 #cookiedecorating #smallbusinessowner #homemade #womanowned #customcookies #babyshower #babygirl #teddybear
